Staffing from Survival in the Bush, Inc., directed by Dr. Gino Ferri, designed and built an authentic and fully operational “Wigwam Village” that was specifically made operational for the Town of Penetanguishene’s festival to commemorate the 400 years since Champlain’s landing in Ontario.

Survival in the Bush, Inc. staffing were in period buckskin clothing, acting as interpreters, demonstrating primitive living skills, and representing the early coureur de bois fur traders.

The Rendez-Vous Champlain Juy 31, 2015 to August 02, 2015 Festival in the Town of Penetanguishene was a wonderful successful. The entire weekend involved a series of history based events involving the French and Wendat (Huron) interplay in Huronia (1615-1649); plays and reenactments occurred on a regular basis.

Survival in the Bush, Inc., hosted, provided historical data, and showed the many dignitaries who arrived for the festivities our historically accurate encampment. Of these dignitaries, were Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, Deputy Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs – Paul C. Genest, Grand Chief of the Huron-Wendat, and many more.

Survival in the Bush, Inc., commenced harvesting and building a small, authentic First Nation encampment (2 bark covered wigwams, 2 drying racks, numerous stretching frames, a tipi, north canoe shelter, baker tent, period leather signage, furrier display, bone tools/weapons) in the town of Penetanguishene from July 13 to July 30th, 2015.

The completed and functional Coureur de Bois encampment was available for full public interaction effective July 31 to August 2, 2015.
